head-btm

Chiropractic care is a drug-free, non-invasive approach to overall wellness and healing that focuses on correcting issues with your musculoskeletal system. When performed by a licensed chiropractor, it can alleviate and even eliminate common problems such as:

  • Back Pain
  • Shoulder Pain
  • Neck Pain
  • Headaches
  • Sciatica
  • Knee Pain
  • Automobile Injuries
  • Sports Injuries
  • Arthritis
  • Body Aches

To treat your conditions and help reduce your pain, chiropractors use time-tested, hands-on techniques to adjust your spine, neck, back, and other joints throughout your body to restore proper function, mobility, and alignment. Once your body is in proper alignment, it functions optimally, leading to improved overall wellness and health.

Unlike some sports rehab clinics in The Garden State, chiropractors from NJ Sports Spine & Wellness work with you one-on-one to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses your specific goals and needs relating to your pain and ability to live a normal life. Because our team takes a holistic approach to healthcare, we cover all aspects of your health and wellness when developing your chiropractic treatment plan. Some of the many benefits of seeing a reliable, licensed chiropractor include the following:

 Lower Back Pain Piscataway, NJ

Relief from Back Pain

Perhaps the most obvious reason to make an appointment with a chiropractor is for back pain relief. Some people only need to see a chiropractor when they have occasional back pain, such as when they wake up in the morning. Others, such as those who have been in serious car accidents, need regular chiropractic adjustments and therapies, which are often supplemented with techniques like physical therapy and acupuncture.

There are many causes of back pain that range from advanced conditions like having sciatica and herniated discs to everyday issues like poor posture and sleeping in a harmful position. Your chiropractor's job is to pinpoint the cause(s) of your back pain and build a customized plan to address your musculoskeletal conditions. Once that happens, pain relief follows shortly after.

At New Jersey Sports Spine & Wellness, we craft personalized chiropractic plans for every patient we treat, with the goal of avoiding harmful surgeries and addictive medicines.

Relief from Headaches

Your NJ Sports Spine & Wellness chiropractor in Piscataway may use a range of techniques to restore function and alignment in your body. Some of the most common techniques our chiropractors use include:

  • Mobilization: This chiropractic strategy uses gentle movements to help restore joint functionality and proper spinal alignment.
  • Manipulation: Spinal manipulation uses controlled force and gravity to correct spinal issues and restore healthy alignment.
  • Electrical Stimulation: With this therapy, electrical currents are used to stimulate your muscles and help heal injuries faster.
  • Soft Tissue Therapy: This type of massage and other hands-on techniques relieve muscle tension while providing pain relief and promoting soft tissue health.
  • Trigger Point Therapy: With this therapy, the targeted use of pressure is used to release tension and improve functionality across specific areas of your body.
  • Ultrasounds: High-frequency sound waves can break up plaque and help stimulate your body's natural healing processes for injuries and wounds.

Reclaim Your Active Life with Physical Therapy and Chiropractic Care

head-btm

Life has a habit of being unexpected. Sure, some surprises only hurt your bank account, like last-minute renovations in your home. But severe incidents, like car accidents, can inflict physical injuries that cause you long-term pain. These problems, like neck and back injuries, affect many Americans daily. Even worse, many hardworking people turn to risky surgeries and addictive pain medications, only to find themselves deep in a hole that seems impossible to get out of.

If you suffer from serious range-of-motion issues or you're in chronic pain, it's important to know that you have treatment choices. You don't have to put your health at risk to relieve your pain. One of the most successful non-invasive treatments offered for pain is physical therapy. The main goal of physical therapy is to restore movement and function to patients affected by illness, injury, or disability.

Physical therapists work with patients of all ages and abilities, from children to elderly adults, to help them overcome physical limitations and improve their quality of life. At NJ Sports Spine & Wellness, our physical therapists help treat a wide range of conditions, from neck pain and spinal cord injuries to back pain and arthritis.

Once our PTs have made headway, they will often use our chiropractic therapy to provide the patient with more relief. Having the option of both chiropractic and physical therapy is often very effective, because your chiropractor in Piscataway can address nerve irritation and joint dysfunction while your physical therapist helps retrain your musculoskeletal system, allowing your body to heal faster.

Some of the biggest benefits of using physical therapy along with chiropractic care include:

  • Restoring Mobility After Injury, Surgery, or Illness
  • Developing Flexibility and Strength for Physical Activities
  • Safe Relief from Chronic Pain
  • Improved Spine and Joint Health
  • Enhanced Knowledge of Your Body and How to Prevent Injuries

Engage in Activities of Daily Living with Occupational Therapy and Chiropractic Therapy

head-btm

Occupational therapy, or OT, is to help patients of all ages and abilities engage in activities of daily living, or ADL. Often, that means helping patients reclaim the ability to continue working, going to school, accomplishing day-to-day tasks, or other activities common to daily living.

Occupational therapy can benefit individuals going through many conditions, such as traumatic brain injuries, strokes, spinal cord injuries, autism spectrum disorders, developmental delays, and chronic pain. The end goal of occupational therapy is to help patients achieve the maximum level of independence and participation in their daily lives. If pain, discomfort, weakness, fatigue, or fear prevent you from participating in activities you love, an OT from NJ Sports Spine & Wellness could become the MVP of your wellness journey.

To give our patients the most complete pain relief and recovery options, our doctors and practitioners will often lean on the expertise of both a physical therapist and a chiropractor in Piscataway. By working together, your PT, OT, and chiropractor can provide you with a comprehensive approach to total-body functionality, from your spine and joints to your mind and range of motion.

Some of the most common benefits of using OT with chiropractic care include:

  • Chronic Pain Relief
  • Improvement of Both Physical and Mental, Emotional, or Developmental Disabilities
  • Improved Development of Fine Motor Skills
  • Better Spine and Musculoskeletal Health
  • Help with Sensory Processing Disorders
  • Much More

Boost Self-Healing Processes with Acupuncture and Chiropractic Care

head-btm

Acupuncture boosts your body's functions and helps improve its ability to heal through anatomic site stimulation - usually called acupuncture points or acupoints. To stimulate these points, acupuncturists at NJ Sports Spine & Wellness insert fine, sterile needles into your skin. Most patients don't feel any pain as needles are applied. Typically, needles are left in the skin up to 30 minutes. After your session, it's normal to feel incredibly relaxed.

While some practitioners still adhere to traditional philosophies, modern acupuncturists take an integrative approach to the therapy. Today, professional acupuncturists use these techniques to stimulate your body's natural healing and pain-fighting processes. When coupled with personalized care from a chiropractor in Piscataway as well as physical or occupational therapy, you can find real relief from the physical and emotional roadblocks holding you back. Some of the most reported benefits of acupuncture treatment include:

  • Back, Neck, and General Pain Relief
  • Improved Digestion and Relief from IBS and Acid Reflux
  • Relief from Menstrual Cramps
  • Treatment for Allergies and Asthma
  • Enhanced Blood Flow
  • Much More

During an acupuncture session, you may feel a slight sensation of warmth or tingling at the needle's site of insertion. Generally speaking, acupuncture is painless and perfectly safe for you to consider. In fact, many practitioners and doctors recommend combining acupuncture with other treatment options like chiropractic adjustments.

Though acupuncture and chiropractic therapies come from different origins, both include non-invasive, holistic, and gentle approaches that don't require drugs to work. They also both facilitate total-body healing by addressing the underlying causes of your symptoms - not just the symptoms themselves.

Because acupuncture is known to release endorphins and improve blood flow, having a session prior to a chiropractic adjustment can be very beneficial. That's because, after acupuncture, your muscles are less stiff, more relaxed, and easier to adjust effectively. Over time, as you combine acupuncture and chiropractic therapy, you'll benefit from less inflammation and less pain as you heal from injuries or musculoskeletal conditions. That same truth applies to patients who undergo serious chiropractic adjustments.

Ohio State will try to end a challenging regular season with a four-game winning streak when it visits Rutgers on Sunday in Piscataway, N.J.

After a 12-2 start when the Buckeyes beat the likes of Alabama, UCLA and West Virginia, they fell apart during the Big Ten season, leading the school to fire coach Chris Holtmann on Feb. 14.

Since then, Ohio State (18-12, 8-11 Big Ten) is 4-1 under interim coach Jake Diebler, with three wins in a row. When the Buckeyes won 60-57 at Michigan State on Feb. 25, they ended a 17-game losing streak in true road games.

“I think the narrative that was surrounding these guys — I understand there are results that go with that — but I don’t think it was entirely fair,” Diebler said this week. “The biggest thing is our aggressiveness at the end of the game … When you have that (confidence) and you go into a road game, specifically as hostile the environments are in this league, and Rutgers is certainly up there with some of the very best, you have to play with that mentality.”

The Buckeyes have been off since thrashing Michigan 84-61 last Sunday. Ohio State outshot its rivals a whopping 56.3 percent to 36.4 percent from the field. Bruce Thornton, who scored 17 points, leads the Buckeyes with 16.2 points and 4.2 assists per contest.

Rutgers (15-15, 7-12) has lost five of six games and hopes to recover from an empty two-game road trip to Nebraska and Wisconsin. The Scarlet Knights fell 78-66 to Wisconsin on Thursday, with Jeremiah Williams scoring 16 points and Gavin Griffiths hitting four 3-pointers off the bench for 14 points.

On Rutgers’ senior night, the program will honor players like Clifford Omoruyi — a Naismith Defensive Player of the Year candidate who averages 8.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game to go with 10.7 points — and Aundre Hyatt, who averages 10.4 points.

“We’ve got Senior Night here coming up and I need our crowd to be there,” Rutgers coach Steve Pikiell told reporters. “We’ve got great seniors. … I want everyone to show up and appreciate those guys, because they all had opportunities and they stayed and that’s a good thing.”

The Big Ten standings are bunched up entering the final weekend of play, and four-way ties at 8-12 or 9-11 involving one or both of these teams are possible. Ohio State can get as high as the No. 9 seed in the conference tournament with a win plus losses by Minnesota and Penn State. Rutgers will be the No. 12 or 13 seed.

PISCATAWAY — A 100-year-old building housing a food pantry went up in smoke Wednesday morning, the second fire at a New Jersey foot pantry in three days.

Firefighters responded to the smokey fire at the building on New Market Road around 7:15 a.m., causing the road to be closed between Union and McKinnon streets.

Piscataway Mayor Brian Wahler, who was at the scene, said the fire was mostly out by 9:30 a.m. with firefighters working on hot spots inside the wooden structure. Wahler said a Conrail line was temporarily shut to run hose over the tracks.

The building was "substantially compromised," according to the mayor. No firefighters were injured and no one was inside the building at the time. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Mayor: We'll figure out how to continue services

The building is owned by the First Baptist Church of New Market and leased to the Fish Organization. It also serves as a clothing drop-off site.

"They have approximately 2,500 clients that are signed up and then on a weekly basis they may have 60 plus families that will stop in for either food and or clothing," Wahler said. "This is a regional pantry site in Central New Jersey. It handles mostly Plainfield, Dunellen, Middlesex and South Plainfield."

The mayor said efforts are already underway to come up with a way to assist those served by Fish. One of the big issues will be getting refrigeration units to store perishables. Fish was already preparing to distribute food for Easter dinners.

"We need to. We'll figure it out," Wahler said.

Wahler said that many high school seniors earned their volunteer credits by working at the pantry.

Clinton food pantry also hit by fire

The Open Cupboard Pantry in Clinton continues to recover from Sunday night’s fire that destroyed its location on old Route 173. They have shifted operations to their other location in Washington Township.

Pantry executive director Jennifer Tavormina said on the organization's Facebook page that monetary donations and gift cards can be dropped off at Reiner Insurance located at 37 Main St. in Clinton.

"We will rebuild. We have a plan in place. I have an amazing team. Our friends, our family, our donors, our neighbors, our businesses, our local organizations and churches, our schools and our elected officials have all come together to rally around this amazing agency that does so much more than provide food for our clients," Tavormina wrote.

Clinton Mayor Janice Kovach told News 12 that a fire wall protected Open Cupboard and Just Subs from serious fire damage. Much of their damage is the result of water and smoke. Approximately 20 Walgreens employees have been relocated to other locations. The cause of the fire remains under investigation

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- A huge fire at a well known charity organization destroyed all kinds of food and supplies that were supposed to be handed out Wednesday.

The building in Piscataway is home to the nonprofit Fish, Inc., which helps people in emergency situations. Now, it is facing its own emergency. In fact, there was supposed to be a food and clothing drive there in the morning, but all of the items were destroyed.

"Normally, we respond to people in the community who have fires and floods, and now it's our turn, and it's just heartbreaking," said Lisa Couch, the nonprofit's president.

Thick smoke blanketed New Market Road, where at 7 a.m. a fire quickly burned through a building that has housed employees that have helped the elderly, homeless, and people in need since it opened in the 1970s.

No one was inside the building when the fire broke out. Firefighters managed to stop it from spreading to a church next door. A firefighter was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Couch said Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are held there daily, and the nonprofit feeds and clothes up to 400 people per week.

"We were supposed to open at 9 a.m. and distribute food and we actually have people whose cars are trapped in the parking lot because they can't get out. So, they are not getting any food," Couch said. "That's my biggest worry. Those people need food and I don't know what's going to happen," Couch said.

Officials are still investigating what started the blaze.

"We don't know. The building is well over 100 years old. It's the old blue-type construction, so once a fire happens, there's no fire stops in these old buildings. It goes right up to the roof," Piscataway Mayor Brian C. Wahler said.

Wahler said the building will likely be deemed unsafe and have to be knocked down. Residents said they feel the nonprofit's pain.

"It's sad, because I come to Mass every morning here and to see that, my heart is torn," Piscataway resident Maria Villaverde said.

"It's going to take a while to recover from this. I think of all the produce downstairs in the basement that is gone now," Bill Fennelly said.

"They helped a lot of people. They helped a lot of homeless. They did many, many drives. It's just a big loss," Paul McMillen added.

The president of the nonprofit said she has already received calls from other food pantries in the area, offering their help and support. She doesn't know how or when yet, but said Fish, Inc. will find a way to bounce back.

PISCATAWAY, New Jersey (WABC) -- A fire burned through a food pantry in Piscataway, New Jersey.

A lot of people are connected to this pantry on New Market Road and this loss will be felt by lots of families.

The smoke filled the sky as firefighters worked diligently to control the blaze which broke out around 7:15 a.m.

It was a rapid response, but the 100-year-old wood structure became fully engulfed in flames, gutting the building.

It serves as a pantry run by Fish, Inc. - Dunellen Area, and serves a couple thousand families with food and clothing in six nearby towns.

The building was also a meeting place for events and local drug and alcohol recovery.

It has served as a vital location for the community and now it looks like it will have to be demolished.

The losses have not been calculated, but the pantry was preparing to help families as we approach major holidays.

"We're gearing up for Easter, and that's the hard part because our freezers are now lost. All of our frozen hams, frozen turkeys, everything we've prepared to go, we've lost," said Lisa Couch, President of Fish, Inc. - Dunellen Area.

"This was a stubborn fire because it was old construction, over a hundred years old, doesn't have the traditional fire stops in it like new construction does have, so it's a sad, sad situation," said Brian Wahler, Mayor of Piscataway.

The building may be a total loss, but the pantry will get back on its feet as people are already making financial donations through the Fish, Inc. - Dunellen Area website.

The outpouring of support is already coming in. While everything is gone, there were no injuries. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

PISCATAWAY, NJ – Smoke detector alarms still sounded Monday morning hours after firefighters extinguished a massive blaze that tore through two Piscataway condominium buildings late Sunday night.

The 3-alarm fire heavily damaged 17 town homes and apartments on Forest Drive in the Birch Glen complex off Birch Run Drive, with the roofs collapsing on sections of Buildings 7 and 8, both two-story buildings built in the early 2000s.

The units are now uninhabitable, and four more are temporarily without power, according to township officials. About 50 residents were displaced, and no injuries were reported.

Fire investigators could not be reached for comment.

Displaced families in need of assistance are urged to contact the Piscataway Office of Emergency Management (OEM) at (732) 921-1908, which is working with the American Red Cross to provide support.
