Not only is the staff incredible, the facility is new and cleanly. I’d like to tell you about my experience. I had hurt my shoulder lifting. It was an overuse injury. I went to NJ Sports Spine and wellness in tears. I was in so much pain I could not bear it. They brought me in a private room with the head Chiropractor Tony Ambrogio and Elisa, an amazing OT. I told them what was going on, they immediately started treating and working on me. Tony carefully adjusted me and Elisa performed OT with deep tissue massage in the area. They also used a laser that penetrates deeply into the muscle to accelerate healing. I was required to attend physical therapy three times a week for four+ weeks. I will admit, hearing that was not ideal. However, as I continue going, feeling a difference in my pain, and gradually healing, I started to really enjoy it. Not only have they worked on my posture, they have strengthen the muscles around the affected area to relieve the strain and pain. The first week attending, I performed a strength test, about a month and a half later, I repeated the test and have increased my strength in all areas of my upper back and neck area. It has been about two months since I started going, and I can say I am currently pain-free. With the adjustments, the occupational therapy, and the physical therapy, I can say I am healed. Going forward, I am going to continue the exercises and stretches they have shown me to make sure that this never happens again. I have also been able to include certain exercises in my personal workouts that I previously needed to avoid that would have aggravated my neck and upper back. Overall, my experience has been wonderful. Like I said, the staff is absolutely wonderful! Everyone is so nice, caring, and I can see them all go above and beyond for every patient. Even when I was sick with the flu, I received a phone call from my chiropractor Tony and my OT Elisa to check in on me. I can’t think of any other business that cares as much about their patients as NJSSW. Both Tony and Elisa are so easy to talk to, they always make me feel comfortable and well taken care of. On a side note, I have had to bring my three-year-old toddler with me on a few occasions. They were very accommodating, they offered and provided a private room. Elisa even played with my son in between her clients in order for me to perform my exercises without a distraction. The team there goes above and beyond. Even staff that I have not personally worked with greet me by name and assist as needed. The front desk staff is always friendly and very accommodating with booking appointments and rescheduling if need be.

Let's start at the beginning. The parking lot always has spots available, even on the busiest days at the busiest times. The pavement is smooth and the parking spots are clearly marked... As you enter the Matawan location, you are greeted with a finely manicured carpet displaying the facility's logo. To the right are a set of glistening glass double doors that welcome you into the immaculate waiting room. Once inside, you could be lucky enough to encounter Ang, Amanda, or one of the many other ladies that inhabit the area behind the front desk. They will always welcome you with a smile, eagerly print out your receipt, or discuss the song verses that adorn their arms in case they ever forget the words. If you have to wait a few minutes for your treatment, you can treat yourself to reading the biography of many of the employees on the complimentary television screen. Once into the treatment area, you will be instantly whisked away to the exercise area where a host of professionals will guide you through your journey of rehabilitation. No matter who you get, you will be in good hands. Hopefully you’ll be lucky enough to have Liam working the music. His playlist is second to none. Personally, my Occupational Therapists are Katelynn Bissett and Alyssa Bark. Two of the best in my opinion. I can't leave out Lindsey who I see once a week and has been terrific. 3 bulging discs and severe shoulder pain are things of the past thanks to these ladies. Okay, that's all I've got. Asbury Park will host the inaugural ​Color & Light Festival​ that will transform the façade of the iconic Paramount Theatre with projection-mapping art shows set to music.

The art will rely on 3D animations, detailed structural calculations and musical compositions to make buildings appear as if they’re morphing before the audience’s eyes.

The event from 7:30 to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday is free. The festival is a collaboration between PolyOne, an arts and entertainment Web3 platform headquartered in Asbury Park, and project arts festival LUMA.

Spectators can gather in Bradley Park across the street from the closed theater, which sits in front of Convention Hall.

Color & Light Festival and PolyOne founder Shawn Emamjomeh told the Asbury Park Press that "we have six of the world's best projection mapping teams all descending on Asbury Park to debut new works that are about 4- or 5-minute shows set to music that will transform the Paramount."

The teams from Hungary, Ukraine, Belgium, Spain, Portugal and the U.S. will debut original works of animated storytelling, creating the illusion that The Paramount Theatre’s architecture is physically transforming.

Festivalgoers can support a variety of pop-up artisans and enjoy an array of culinary delights from local food vendors.

Coffee Corral is going to the dogs.

The Red Bank coffee shop and roastery kicks off a series of adoption events on Saturday, when they'll host dogs from Wag On Inn Rescue.

The series continues Saturdays, April 12 and 19, and Saturday, May 10, with canines from both the Ocean Township-based rescue and the Associated Humane Societies of Newark.

The April and May events will feature music, and the Easter Bunny will be in attendance April 12. All adoption days are weather-dependent.

Donna Summer tribute in Red Bank

Rainere Martin learned at an early age that she could use her voice to lift souls and spread joy. An early focus on R&B ballads and appreciation for the music of Donna Summer helped Martin develop and perform a tribute show featuring the Queen of Disco's greatest hits.

"Forever Donna — The Ultimate Donna Summer Tribune" takes place at 8 p.m. Friday at the Vogel, part of the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank.

Martin has performed in Australia, Mexico and Puerto Rico, as well as venues across the United States. One of the highlights of her career was performing “Heaven Knows” with Joe Esposito, who recorded it with Summer in 1978.

Tickets are $49 to $69, and a limited number are still available.

The "ghost-with-the-most" comes to Bell Theater in "Beetlejuice Jr.," the frightfully funny musical based on the motion picture turned Broadway musical.

The show plays at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 3 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $15, $10 for students.

Lydia Deetz is a strange and unusual teenager, still grieving the loss of her mother and obsessed with the whole “being dead thing.” Lucky for Lydia, she and her father move to a new house haunted by a recently deceased couple and Beetlejuice, a delightful demon with a real zest for life.

With a book by Anthony King and Scott Brown, this family-friendly show starring actors from the Axelrod Performing Arts Academy features music and lyrics by Tony Award-nominee Eddie Perfect.

Get the blues in Tuckerton

Two blues bands play the Lizzie Rose Music Room in Tuckerton on Saturday.

Bees Deluxe is a four-piece band that honors the music of legendary artists such as Billie Holiday, Etta James, Albert Collins, Robert Cray, Tinsley Ellis, Freddie King, and Roomful of Blues.

"With respect and a dash of hot sauce, they blend the blues with jazz, rock, funk and soul," a release said.

Fronted by British guitarist Conrad Warre, the band's 2023 all-original album, "Hallucinate," has been well-received by Blues Blast magazine, Music News and Indie Pulse Music.

Opening the evening is Twisted Livin', a power trio from South Jersey formed in August 2021. Playing blues covers and original music, the trio features Denny Shiffler on guitar, Bob Irwin on drums and Will Keiter on bass.

Nocturnes Big Band in Beach Haven

At 3 p.m. Sunday, Nocturnes Big Band plays Holy Innocents' Church in Beach Haven.

Nocturnes features swing-era music of Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Stan Kenton and others, as well as songs by the Beatles, Chicago and the Beach Boys. Songs made popular by Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee and Natalie Cole are often in their performances.

The group performs at and around the Shore for dances, parties, concerts, fundraisers and other events, frequently at the many senior facilities in Ocean and Monmouth counties.

On Sunday, selections include "The Masquerade," plus an audience sing-along. A free will offering will be taken, and a reception will follow the performance.

'King James' in New Brunswick

George Street Playhouse is presenting "King James" for a limited run through Sunday, April 6.

Two Clevelanders forge an unlikely connection over their shared passion for the Cavaliers and rising basketball star LeBron James. Spanning 12 years, their friendship is shaped by the triumphs and challenges of both fandom and life itself.

From Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph, "King James" is a funny and heartfelt look at loyalty and ambition. Directed by Ryan George, the play stars Doug Harris and Blake Morris.

George Street is hosting a Mix & Mingle Night on Wednesday March 26, following the 7:30 p.m. performance. The company will offer an open-captioned matinee performance in English, along with an open-captioned eveningperformance in Spanish, on Saturday, March 29.

There will be a Sunday Symposium after the 2 p.m. performance on April 6.

'Cecily Brown' in Philadelphia

The Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia is presenting the East Coast premiere of "Cecily Brown: Themes and Variations," a major mid-career retrospective of the pioneering British painter.

Co-organized by the Barnes and the Dallas Museum of Art, this exhibition is the largest presentation of Brown’s work in the United States, and her first solo exhibition in Philadelphia.

Bringing together more than 30 large-scale paintings and works on paper that highlight Brown’s subversion of gendered tropes in art history and popular culture, the exhibition considers her work from a feminist perspective.

It reveals how she reclaimed the heroic gestural expression associated with an earlier generation of male artists to create lush, dynamic and often erotic paintings. Moving between figuration and abstraction, her work explores the power imbalances inherent in voyeurism and sexual violence.This exhibition will be on view in the Roberts Gallery through Sunday, May 25. The Barnes is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Mondays.

“It’s not a surprise that there is no functioning theater space in Asbury Park,” Anthony says. “I’ve been co-producing and sharing spaces with so many organizations over the years, all who have trusted me with their homes. The 2025 season includes two theatrical concert events at House of Independents in Asbury Park: The Pink Pony Club, a celebration of the music of Chappell Roan (with a cast of 25 young singers, musicians, and drag queens) on March 28th, and JONES SINGS JONES!, a 17-piece Vegas Style celebration of Tom Jones on March 29th. As of this release, both shows are close to sold out.

Embracing the collaborations, Asbury Park Theater Company will join with Bell Theater at Bell Works for two rock musicals: Hedwig and the Angry Inch, an exclusive conceptual production, June 13-29, starring Remember Jones and directed by Jose Zayas, and A Night With Janis Joplin, starring Tony nominee Mary Bridget Davies, who will co-direct alongside Remember Jones, running October 3-19.

“Mary has been a friend on and off stage for many years,” says Anthony. “We see and hear the world similarly in so many ways and to re-envision this show hand-in-hand is an honor.”

Asbury Park Theater Company will grow, expand, and redevelop its previous youth programs, this year presenting its first production: Disney’s The Lion King, Jr., July 18-20. Performers 18 years of age and younger will be able to register for camp running June 30-July 20 at Jersey Shore Arts Center in Ocean Grove, which will include classes taught by Broadway and music professionals, enriching young artists with backstage knowledge as well as on stage. There will be a production team and auditions for the show announced soon, as well.

To wrap up the year, the company will reprise its now annual gala, A Big Band Holiday to Remember, on December 13th, once again at Jersey Shore Arts Center in Ocean Grove. This event sold out quickly in 2024, which saw the Asbury Park music community bridged together with local and Broadway theater performers in front of a 17-piece big band.
