Let's take a closer look at some of the knee pain treatments available at NJ Sports Spine and Wellness, which all serve as great alternatives to knee replacement surgery.

Physical Therapy:

Optimizing Musculoskeletal Health with Conservative Care

The field of Physical Therapy (PT) aims to rehabilitate individuals who have experienced injury, illness, or disability by restoring their mobility and function. Physical therapists cater to patients of various ages and capabilities, ranging from young athletes to senior citizens, in order to help them surpass physical limitations and improve their standard of living with advanced knee pain treatment in Spring Heights, NJ.

At NJ Sports Spine and Wellness, our physical therapy program was founded on a patient-centric philosophy, where physical therapists work closely with patients to get a deep understanding of their goals, preferences, and capabilities. In doing so, they can create a tailor-made treatment strategy to address their unique knee pain with the goal of avoiding a knee replacement. Treatment may involve exercises that are therapeutic in nature and can include:

  • Joint mobilizations
  • Soft tissue mobilization using cupping
  • Graston technique
  • Soft tissue massage
  • Stretching of associated muscle groups

Joint Mobilization for Knee Pain

This unique knee pain solution involves physical therapists using skilled manual therapy techniques to help improve your joint range of motion while simultaneously reducing your knee pain.

During joint mobilization, a physical therapist applies targeted pressures or forces to a joint in specific directions to improve its mobility. The intensity of the force applied can vary, and it is adjusted based on the patient's comfort level. Joint mobilization is generally pain-free.

STM

Soft Tissue Mobilization (STM)

Soft Tissue Mobilization is a manual therapy technique that involves stretching and applying deep pressure to rigid muscle tissue. This helps to relax muscle tension and move fluids that are trapped in the tissues that cause pain and inflammation. This effective form of physical therapy is often used as an advanced knee pain treatment in Spring Heights, NJ for treating knee strains, knee sprains, knee pain, and more.

Graston

The Graston Technique

The Graston Technique involves the use of handheld instruments to identify and break up scar tissue through specialized massage. During a Graston Technique session, physical therapists use convex and concave tools for cross-friction massage, which involves rubbing or brushing against the grain of the scar tissue. This process re-introduces small amounts of trauma to the affected area. In some cases, this process temporarily causes inflammation, which can actually boost the amount and rate of blood flow in the knee. This process helps initiate and promote the healing process so you can get back to a normal life.

Massage

Soft Tissue Massage

Soft tissue massage is a less intense form of massage than it's deep-tissue relative. Instead of focusing on slow and firm strokes to reach the deep layers of muscles and tissues, this massage technique uses a variety of pressures, depths, and durations. Soft tissue massage is helpful in alleviating different types of knee aches, pains, and injuries. Soft tissue massages can also help reduce stress, improve circulation, and promote relaxation.

Advanced Mechanics and Technology:

The Future of Knee Pain Therapy

While knee pain is a common symptom that affects millions of Americans every year, no two cases of knee pain are ever exactly alike. Some types of knee injuries require non-traditional solutions. At New Jersey Sports Spine and Wellness, we offer a range of treatments that leverage mechanics and technology to help patients recover from injuries while treating inflammation and pain as well as resolve the root cause of the pain.

AlterAlterG® Anti-Gravity Treadmill

The AlterG® Anti-Gravity Treadmill is equipped with NASA Differential Air Pressure (DAP) technology, which is a precise air calibration system that uses the user's actual body weight to enhance rehabilitation and training. By utilizing a pressurized air chamber, the AlterG allows patients and athletes to move without any pain or restrictions.

This advanced knee pain treatment in Spring Heights, NJ uniformly reduces gravitational load and body weight up to 80% in precise 1% increments. The results can be incredible, with patients reporting benefits such as:

  • Restoring and building of knee strength
  • Restored range of motion in the knee
  • Better balance
  • Improved knee function
  • More

What Makes the AlterG® Anti-Gravity Treadmill So Effective?

The AlterG® Anti-Gravity Treadmill can monitor various metrics such as speed, gait pattern, stride length, and weight distribution. With real-time feedback and video monitoring, your rehabilitation team can promptly and accurately identify issues and pain points or monitor your progress throughout your knee pain rehabilitation journey.

One of the key benefits of this cutting-edge equipment is that it replicates natural walking and movement patterns without the artificial feel that hydrotherapy or harnesses create. This makes it an excellent choice for faster recovery after knee injuries or surgeries, as it allows for early mobilization while also preserving strength. Furthermore, it is ideal for sports recovery as athletes can use it for physical conditioning maintenance.

Low-Level Laser Therapy

Our advanced treatment modalities for knee pain include laser therapy, which harnesses the revolutionary power of light through photobiomodulation (PBM). LiteCureâ„¢ low-level laser therapy is available for acute and chronic types of knee pain and can be hugely beneficial when coupled with physical therapy, occupational therapy, chiropractic care, and sports recovery care.

Understanding Photobiomodulation (PBM)

PBM is a medical treatment that harnesses the power of light to stimulate the body's natural healing abilities. The photons from the light penetrate deep into the tissue and interact with mitochondria, which results in a boost in energy production. This interaction sets off a biological chain reaction that increases cellular metabolism. Utilizing low-level light therapy has been shown to:

  • Alleviate knee pain
  • Speed up tissue healing
  • Promote overall health and wellness
  • Expedite knee pain injury recovery

Exclusive Access to

Pain Management Professionals

At NJ Sports Spine & Wellness, we know that every patient requires a personalized approach to chronic knee pain and condition management. Sometimes, our patients need access to pain management professionals, who can offer relief in conjunction with physical therapy and other solutions like low-level laser therapy.

Two of the most common services we offer for pain management includes acupuncture which can assist in avoiding knee replacement surgery.

Acupuncture is a common treatment for knee pain that involves inserting thin needles into specific points in your knee. This ancient Chinese medicine has gained popularity in Western culture due to its effectiveness in treating various conditions with minimal side effects.

Acupuncture works by stimulating the nervous system to release various biochemicals, including endorphins and other neurotransmitters. The release of these chemicals helps to reduce inflammation, decrease pain perception, and improve overall blood circulation.

Multiple studies have shown that acupuncture can be effective in treating knee pain caused by a variety of conditions, including osteoarthritis and injuries related to physical activity like running. Acupuncture can also help reduce inflammation, improve muscle function, and decrease pain perception, making it a viable treatment on its own or as an addition to traditional treatment methods like physical therapy.

When undergoing acupuncture, a professional acupuncturist will insert thin needles into specific acupoints on the skin. These needles are left in place for roughly 20 to 30 minutes and may be gently stimulated for an enhanced effect. Patients might experience a slight tingle or warmth at the needle insertion site, but overall, acupuncture is considered a painless procedure.

Acupuncture has been a trusted and effective treatment option for thousands of years. The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes acupuncture as a legitimate form of healthcare, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has even funded research studies to explore its efficacy for a range of medical conditions. Introducing Sneh, an extremely talented hair dresser working at Christopher Royce Hair Studios in Spring Lake Heights.

Not only do I LOVE how my hair turned out but I thoroughly enjoyed my personal experience overall.

This Jersey Shore business is so much more than a hair salon.

Usually, you are getting your hair cut and colored with other customers two feet away. Not here.

Each hair dresser works in their own individual room that comes with a salon chair, full counter and mirror. Your service is personalized, private and relaxing opposed to the chaos that I've witnessed in other salons.

Sneh has worked as a hair dresser for eight years and she knows everything there is to know about hair.

To start, you will never book with a receptionist.

Sneh speaks with all of her clients on the phone first to get to know you and to discuss what you are looking for before making an appointment.

Upon arrival, Sneh greeted me with a smile and open arms. We went right into her room to re-discuss what I was looking for and the plan of action.

Quick pause: Christopher Royce Hair Studios has a full bar where customers can enjoy a unique, handmade cocktail while they are glammed. You know how much I HATED this part...lol....

Sneh then applied my color, shaped my layers and had me leaving that salon feeling like myself again!

I won't lie to you. Girl talk took up most of the appointment and Sneh is so easy to approach which I think is an important quality to have in a hairstylist.

If you want to give your hair the revamp you've been looking for, reach out to Sneh! We already have planned my next color and highlights for the fall season!

Here's how you can reach out:

1. Reach out on Facebook: @BeautyBySneh

2. Reach out on Instagram: @LoveSneh

3. Text or call her directly at (609) 638-8002

When you do make an appointment, tell them Nicole sent you!

Christopher Royce Hair Studios is located at 209 Route 71 in Spring Lake Heights.

Here are their hours:

Sun - Mon: Closed Tue - Thu: 12PM - 8PM Fri: 9AM - 6PM Sat: 9AM - 4PM

And once your hair is good to go, here is where you should head:

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - The Heights Heat 12U softball team lived up to their team’s name on Sunday, May 22. The team battled through a double-header in 90-plus degree weather in South Plainfield to take home the 12U Spring Parkway League title.

After receiving a bye in the first round of the playoff, the Heat 12U went straight to the semi-finals. They started their afternoon by defeating Summit in a pitcher’s duel by a score of 3-1. The Heat clawed their runs out through aggressive base running and a strong approach at the plate. In the bottom of the first inning, Leah Dasti stole home to tie the game at one. Then, Emily Sorge walked with the bases loaded in the second inning to give the Heat a lead they would not relinquish. On the rubber, the team’s ace Aly Sayre allowed no hits over her five innings pitched, striking out 16 and walking just one in the game.

The Heat then jumped out to a big lead in the finals against the Brooklyn Angels by sending 11 batters up to the plate and scoring six runs in the top of the first inning. Hits by Dasti, Nora Ramos, Sayre, Lucia Xhelo and Sydney Naim all drove in runs. Allie Nelson also roped a double to the outfield to extend the lead. The score remained 6-0 until the top of the fifth inning when Jane Geddis sailed a fly ball into the outfield for a double, scoring Sorge, who had reached on a bunt single to start the inning.

It was all the offense the girls would need, as Sayre threw her second no-hitter of the day, keeping the Brooklyn batters at bay with 18 strikeouts over her seven-inning complete game shutout. And when they did put the ball into play, the Heat defense shined. Sayre and Nelson both had running catches to snag pop-ups, but the play of game belonged to Dasti in center field, who tracked down a hard-hit line drive to send the Berkeley Heights faithful into a frenzy during the bottom of the third inning. Ramos was a rock behind the plate the whole afternoon, catching all but one inning in the final and working seamlessly with Sayre to tie up opposing hitters.

The team featured Catarina Araujo, Samantha Chew, Leah Dasti, Victoria Dyachenko, Ava Garcia, Amanda Geddis, Jane Geddis, Sydney Naim, Allison Nelson, Alexa Pradhan, Nora Ramos, Aly Sayre, Leah Shehady, Emily Sorge and Lucia Xhelo. The team was led by coaches Dina Xhelo, Bret Sayre, Chris Geddis and Ed Sorge. Congrats to the 12U spring champions, the Heights Heat!

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi is coming back to Seaside Heights.

The star of MTV's “Jersey Shore” and the spin-off “Jersey Shore Family Vacation” will open a third location of her Snooki Shop on the borough's Boulevard in the spring, Polizzi announced Friday, Jan. 14, on her social media.

“Seaside Heights, NJ, Coming Spring 2022, Tag & tell all your Mawma’s” stated the store's Instagram account, with hearts and lips emojis. Polizzi presently operates two Snooki Shops — one in Madison and the other in Beacon, N.Y.

“The mayor and borough council welcome Nicole and her fashion boutique store to the Seaside Heights business community,” said Seaside Heights Borough Administrator Christopher Vaz via email. “As elected leaders and local business owners jointly continue the hard work of redeveloping the Boulevard and transforming Seaside Heights, we are pleased to have Nicole onboard for the journey. Messy Mawma is actually a smart young businesswoman with a great vision for her brand!”

The Snooki Shop features Polizzi's personally curated seasonal looks, Snooki memorabilia and her line of makeup. Polizzi's representative did not reply to a request for more information on the new Seaside Heights store.

The original run of “Jersey Shore” took place from 2009 to 2012 in Seaside Heights, primarily at 1209 Ocean Terrace, where the cast lived surrounded by cameras. The hit “Jersey Shore” drew negative attention from the onset. UNICO National, an Italian-American organization, called the show “trash television” before it premiered, and the Jersey Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau piled on, stating that “MTV is providing a one-dimensional, dramatized version of a very small group of visitors’ summer experiences in one Jersey Shore town.”

Many of the show’s landmarks, including the “Jersey Shore” house, the Shore Store, where the last cast worked, and Spicy Cantina remain popular with fans. The Bamboo Bar, frequently shown on the show, was demolished in 2021.

When most of the cast filmed 2017's “Reunion Road Trip,” which was broadcast on E!, they were denied a permit to film Seaside Heights. The cast addressed their crazy years in Seaside Heights on “Reunion Road Trip,” citing arrests, brawls and relieving themselves around town.

“We did run amok,” said Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino.

“I can see why we’re not wanted back,” said Polizzi. “We were a hot mess.”

Snooki:Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi's Florham Park home featured on new episode of MTV's 'Cribs'

Nor was “Jersey Shore Family Vacation,” which debuted in 2018, allowed to film at length in the borough as the town wanted to “move on” from the image. “JSFV” has decamped in Manalapan and Point Pleasant Beach in recent seasons, and storylines have focused on the cast members interpersonal and family relationships instead of nights out at area clubs.

The recent Season 5 debut featured the delivery of babies for Sorrentino and wife Lauren Sorrentino, and Deena Cortese and husband Chris Buckner. Polizzi is married to Jionni Lavalle, whom she met at the borough's Karma nightclub. They have three children and homes in Florham Park and Toms River.

Polizzi is not the only “Jersey Shore” cast member to open a clothing store in the state. In 2021, Jenni “JWoww” Farley opened Heavenly Flower, a maternity apparel store, in the American Dream complex in East Rutherford. Former cast member Sammy “Sweetheart” Giancola opened Sweetheart Coast, a clothing/boutique store, on the boardwalk in Ocean City.
