Physical Therapy:
The field of Physical Therapy (PT) aims to rehabilitate individuals who have experienced injury, illness, or disability by restoring their mobility and function. Physical therapists cater to patients of various ages and capabilities, ranging from young athletes to senior citizens, in order to help them surpass physical limitations and improve their standard of living with advanced knee pain treatment in Aberdeen, NJ.
At NJ Sports Spine and Wellness, our physical therapy program was founded on a patient-centric philosophy, where physical therapists work closely with patients to get a deep understanding of their goals, preferences, and capabilities. In doing so, they can create a tailor-made treatment strategy to address their unique knee pain with the goal of avoiding a knee replacement. Treatment may involve exercises that are therapeutic in nature and can include:
This unique knee pain solution involves physical therapists using skilled manual therapy techniques to help improve your joint range of motion while simultaneously reducing your knee pain.
During joint mobilization, a physical therapist applies targeted pressures or forces to a joint in specific directions to improve its mobility. The intensity of the force applied can vary, and it is adjusted based on the patient's comfort level. Joint mobilization is generally pain-free.
Advanced Mechanics and Technology:
While knee pain is a common symptom that affects millions of Americans every year, no two cases of knee pain are ever exactly alike. Some types of knee injuries require non-traditional solutions. At New Jersey Sports Spine and Wellness, we offer a range of treatments that leverage mechanics and technology to help patients recover from injuries while treating inflammation and pain as well as resolve the root cause of the pain.
The Alter® Anti-Gravity Treadmill is equipped with NASA Differential Air Pressure (DAP) technology, which is a precise air calibration system that uses the user's actual body weight to enhance rehabilitation and training. By utilizing a pressurized air chamber, the AlterG allows patients and athletes to move without any pain or restrictions.
This advanced knee pain treatment in Aberdeen, NJ uniformly reduces gravitational load and body weight up to 80% in precise 1% increments. The results can be incredible, with patients reporting benefits such as:
The Alter® Anti-Gravity Treadmill can monitor various metrics such as speed, gait pattern, stride length, and weight distribution. With real-time feedback and video monitoring, your rehabilitation team can promptly and accurately identify issues and pain points or monitor your progress throughout your knee pain rehabilitation journey.
One of the key benefits of this cutting-edge equipment is that it replicates natural walking and movement patterns without the artificial feel that hydrotherapy or harnesses create. This makes it an excellent choice for faster recovery after knee injuries or surgeries, as it allows for early mobilization while also preserving strength. Furthermore, it is ideal for sports recovery as athletes can use it for physical conditioning maintenance.
Our advanced treatment modalities for knee pain include laser therapy, which harnesses the revolutionary power of light through photobiomodulation (PBM). LiteCure™ low-level laser therapy is available for acute and chronic types of knee pain and can be hugely beneficial when coupled with physical therapy, occupational therapy, chiropractic care, and sports recovery care.
PBM is a medical treatment that harnesses the power of light to stimulate the body's natural healing abilities. The photons from the light penetrate deep into the tissue and interact with mitochondria, which results in a boost in energy production. This interaction sets off a biological chain reaction that increases cellular metabolism. Utilizing low-level light therapy has been shown to:
Exclusive Access to
At NJ Sports Spine & Wellness, we know that every patient requires a personalized approach to chronic knee pain and condition management. Sometimes, our patients need access to pain management professionals, who can offer relief in conjunction with physical therapy and other solutions like low-level laser therapy.
Two of the most common services we offer for pain management includes acupuncture which can assist in avoiding knee replacement surgery.
Acupuncture is a common treatment for knee pain that involves inserting thin needles into specific points in your knee. This ancient Chinese medicine has gained popularity in Western culture due to its effectiveness in treating various conditions with minimal side effects.
Acupuncture works by stimulating the nervous system to release various biochemicals, including endorphins and other neurotransmitters. The release of these chemicals helps to reduce inflammation, decrease pain perception, and improve overall blood circulation.
Multiple studies have shown that acupuncture can be effective in treating knee pain caused by a variety of conditions, including osteoarthritis and injuries related to physical activity like running. Acupuncture can also help reduce inflammation, improve muscle function, and decrease pain perception, making it a viable treatment on its own or as an addition to traditional treatment methods like physical therapy.
When undergoing acupuncture, a professional acupuncturist will insert thin needles into specific acupoints on the skin. These needles are left in place for roughly 20 to 30 minutes and may be gently stimulated for an enhanced effect. Patients might experience a slight tingle or warmth at the needle insertion site, but overall, acupuncture is considered a painless procedure.
Acupuncture has been a trusted and effective treatment option for thousands of years. The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes acupuncture as a legitimate form of healthcare, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has even funded research studies to explore its efficacy for a range of medical conditions. ABERDEEN -- Crunch Fitness, a fitness chain that is expanding at the Jersey Shore, will open an athletic club on Route 34 at the former Bed Bath & Beyond store.
The 25,000-square-foot anchor store, located at the Regent Shopping Center at Lloyd Road, has been vacant since it was closed in early 2023 as Bed Bath & Beyond spiraled into bankruptcy.
Crunch Fitness is coming soon, said Ron DeLuca, chief executive officer of commercial real estate firm R.J. Brunelli & Co, who represents the landlord in lease transactions. Next door, AutoZone is under construction and will replace the former Famous Footwear store, he said.
"Having two stores occupied is terrific," Aberdeen Mayor Fred Tagliarini said. "I was just told by the landlord there that both have signed up and are ready to rock."
A spokesperson for Crunch Fitness could not be reached for comment.
The new location comes as Crunch Fitness is expanding in Monmouth County. In January, Fitness Holdings North America, acquired five locations from Jersey Strong Gym in Tinton Falls, Ocean Township, Wall Township, Freehold Township, and Marlboro.
It also continues the march of new businesses moving into vacant Bed Bath & Beyond locations.
Ross Dress for Less and Gap Factory are moving into the Route 35 store in Middletown and Burlington has opened on Route 36 in Eatontown. Ross Dress for Less is coming to Chambers Bridge Road in Brick.
Nordstrom Rack will open on March 27 at Manalapan Commons on Route 9. Dollar Tree has taken over half of the former Bed Bath & Beyond store in Howell. The Picklr, a pickleball club, is now open on Route 72 in Stafford.

EATONTOWN - As the new Burlington store prepares to open next month in the former Bed Bath & Beyond on Route 36, the building's owner has plans to expand the shopping center and ready it for Bob's Discount Furniture.
The borough's planning board has approved plans by 36 Monmouth Plaza LLC for a building canopy that will sit over the entrance to Bob's Furniture's next to Burlington. The addition itself, which will add 19,965 square feet to the store, was approved in 2018.
Meanwhile, Burlington, located at 92 Route 36, opens on Nov. 1. The store features Burlington's new store layout, which the company said "provides a better and more enjoyable shopping experience, making it easier for consumers to discover deals and savings on their favorite brands."
An off-price discounter, Burlington sells brand-name women's apparel and accessories, menswear, children’s clothing, footwear, baby items, home décor, gifts and pet products at prices that are up to 60% off. The retailer has stores in Hazlet, Ocean Township, Howell, Brick, Toms River and Freehold Township.
"Our goal is to continue to offer area residents low prices on brand-name merchandise for the entire family and home,” said Michael O’Sullivan, chief executive officer of Burlington Stores, in a statement.
“We’re continuing to expand our footprint across the country and are excited to be opening a new store in Eatontown," he said. "We look forward to giving local customers the chance to discover big savings on a wide range of products.”
Bob's Discount Furniture is growing at the Jersey Shore. With an existing store in Freehold Township, the new Eatontown location will be its second in Monmouth County. In August, Bob's opened a store on Hooper Avenue in Toms River, its first in Ocean County.
At Burlington's grand opening on Nov. 1 and Nov. 2, the first 100 customers age 18 and up will receive a $10 bonus card that can be used towards their purchase. On Nov. 3, customers will receive a free Burlington umbrella while supplies last, with no purchase necessary.
Store hours will be 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays.

SAYREVILLE, NJ — You can now add a Starbucks to a growing list of retailers confirmed to open at Riverton, the redevelopment project that will have 1,300 luxury waterfront apartments, offices, shops, restaurants and a boat marina in Sayreville.
"Big Riverton News," the Sayreville Economic & Redevelopment Agency announced on their Facebook page Tuesday. "We officially approved a recognition agreement with Sayreville Seaport Associates Urban Renewal, L.P. and Starbucks Corporation ... This agreement paves the way for Starbucks, one of the world's most recognized coffee brands, to establish a presence in Riverton."
A Bass Pro Shop (the hunting and fishing store), a QuickChek and Starbucks are the first three businesses that plan to open at Riverton. Sayreville town hall may also relocate there, Sayreville Mayor Kennedy O'Brien announced in January.
Riverton will be located on Chevalier Avenue, right off the Sayreville exit from the Parkway south at the Driscoll Bridge. Construction on Riverton started last month.
The developer said Riverton "will primarily be marketed to empty nesters and single Millennials, however some families may also be part of the resident mix."
The developer is Sayreville Seaport Associates Urban Renewal, which is a partnership of Cincinnati-based North American Properties and PGIM Real Estate, the global investment arm of Prudential bank.
Riverton will have:
Riverton has been pitched for more than a decade now. However, the developers said Riverton could not be built without "critical" financing from the state.
At the end of 2023, the state of New Jersey announced Riverton was approved for tax breaks of up to 50 percent of project's costs, up to $400 million total. It was given the tax breaks under the state's Aspire Program, which is meant to increase affordable housing in New Jersey. A big chunk (20 percent) of the 1,300 residential units planned there will be affordable housing.
NJ Economic Development Authority CEO Tim Sullivan said Riverton will "transform a vast tract of land that had been rendered unusable many years ago" and will "reinvigorate Sayreville."
